Becoming a Christian means believing Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; repenting; being baptized for forgiveness; and receiving the Holy Spirit. The rest of your life becomes a daily practice of following Him.

Meet Him
Read Matthew
Read one encounter at a time. Notice what Jesus loves, what He confronts, and what He asks people to do. Continue into John afterward; John tells you why he wrote in John 20:31.

Examine the claim
Did Jesus rise?
The first Christians did not build their hope on a mood. They announced that the crucified Jesus had been raised and that witnesses had seen Him.

Understand the news
Hear the gospel
Jesus died for our sins, was buried, and was raised. God’s love is demonstrated through His Son, and the resurrection opens a living hope.

Peter’s answer
Respond as they did in Acts 2
When people asked what to do, Peter told them to repent and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for forgiveness, and they would receive the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:37-41). He did not give them a conversion prayer.

Begin the new life
Be baptized
Baptism is full immersion chosen by a believer. Any follower of Jesus can baptize you in safe, lawful water. A paid minister and church building are unnecessary.

Keep walking
Follow Jesus every day
Jesus calls disciples to take up the cross daily, love as He loved, forgive, tell the truth, and carry other people’s burdens. Some days are difficult. Keep going.

Share life
Find people and become one who serves
The church in Acts shared teaching, meals, prayer, possessions, and ordinary days. Look for people who will follow Jesus with you. Then notice somebody who needs a meal, a ride, a patient listener, or a friend who returns.
