God loved the world

God’s love is demonstrated through His Son (John 3:16-17; Romans 5:8). He wants people to repent and live. Love does not erase judgment, and judgment does not give us permission to call part of the world unloved.

Jesus is the Son of God

Peter confessed Him as the Christ, the Son of the living God. John wrote so readers would believe the same and have life in His name (John 20:31). Jesus was crucified and God raised Him from the dead.

How people responded

Acts 2 gives the pattern: believe the message about Jesus, repent, be baptized for forgiveness, and receive the Holy Spirit. Jesus and the apostles did not teach a scripted sinner’s prayer as the way someone becomes a Christian.

The church is people

The first Christians devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching, fellowship, shared meals, and prayer. They met in homes and shared what they had so needs were met (Acts 2:42-47). Jesus Saves church owns no religious building, collects no money, and pays no leaders.

Following Jesus takes a lifetime

Jesus told disciples to take up the cross daily (Luke 9:23). They learn His commands so they can obey them, love as He loved, make other disciples, baptize them, and share the hope of His resurrection (Matthew 28:18-20).
