Why does every church in Riverside seem to want my money?
We can't speak for them, but we can tell you the first church never collected tithes — believers shared directly with each other 'as anyone had need' (Acts 2:45). Buildings and payrolls need revenue; the actual church never did. Nobody here is paid and nothing is collected.
I've been hurt by a church here. Why should I try again?
We're sorry — genuinely. Riverside has some good congregations and some that left scars. What we'd say is: don't confuse the institution with Jesus. He reserved His anger for religious gatekeepers (Matthew 23) and His gentleness for people they'd stepped on. Try a living room before you write off the whole thing.
Do I have to stop drinking / smoking / swearing before God will take me?
You come first, cleanup comes after — and honestly, God handles most of the cleanup. The Jerusalem crowd in Acts 2 was baptized the same day they believed, mid-mess. Repentance means turning toward God, and He's not waiting behind a velvet rope.
Is the Bible even reliable?
