Jesus is the center
Paul challenged believers who divided themselves around favorite leaders: “Is Christ divided?” (1 Corinthians 1:13). A denominational label cannot create a disciple, and lacking one does not prevent someone from obeying Jesus.
Independence can still become isolation. Acts 2:42-47 describes believers learning, eating, praying, sharing, and meeting from house to house. Hebrews 10:24-25 tells Christians to keep encouraging one another. Following Jesus includes people who can see your life closely enough to encourage and correct you.
Look at the fruit
Ask whether a community points people toward Jesus and practices His commands. Does it welcome questions? Is leadership accountable? Is money used as leverage? Are weak people protected? Can believers participate rather than watching a performance?
You can begin simply. Invite a few people to read Matthew, eat, pray, and help someone together. Do not rush to name a new movement. Practice being the church.
